[Solomosaico] The Art of Mosaics

I am a self-taught mosaic artist who has been working with the medium since 1999.

Born in Berlin, Germany, I discovered the art while living and working in Zurich, Switzerland.

Using my hands to create, has always been my passion and I eventually went on to study the art of mosaics and completed master classes in the subject. I believe some of my unique talent may have come from my mother, who was a stained glass artist.

I travel extensively and derive inspiration from textures, shapes and colors in the world around me.

I create contemporary art that captures one’s attention by deliberately and creatively arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions.

In addition to traditional mosaic tesserae, I like to use pebbles, beads, mirrors, shells and other found objects to create pieces that are unique and convey personal meaning. Manipulating materials that are hard and rigid into softer lines and three dimensional shapes help to draw viewers into my work.

I founded Solomosaico, my own atelier, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I am currently based in Dubai and Switzerland.
